Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer is an artistic, capital-M Masterpiece; a technical and cultural triumph of the cinematic arts. It skillfully employs the brilliant acting of a wide ranging A-list cast, (starting with the always-great Cillian Murphy) who are all at the top of their game. The multi-layered story includes scientific discovery, tension, political intrigue, treachery, nudity, sex, triumph, loss, moral righteousness, betrayal, commies and explosions. At three hours plus, it’s a sweeping epic. Exhaustive and exhausting.
But I actually enjoyed Maestro more.
