Another Dimension, indeed

December 18, 2023

I was listening to Sid Griffin’s recent podcast on the Byrds, featuring rarities, obscurities, solo tracks, etc, when an especially rocking instrumental backing track to “I Know My Rider” came up. Sid said it was from the Sundazed Records’ Another Dimension collection. After looking awhile for it online (the album's long been sold out), I thought something was off kilter. Then it slowly dawned on me that I already owned it. I bought it, as a collector’s item, back in 2005 when it was first released, and obviously didn’t play it much.

Rather than be aghast at the 18-year memory lapse, however, I’m actually thrilled at the (re)discovery of owning the record. It’s like receiving a brand new gift. Now I wonder, what other surprises await my razor-sharp mind down the road?

Joni did not sing a “sour discordant note.” Does this WAPO critic even know what a discordant note is, or were they just trying to be cute?
