I’ve been fortunate in my professional life to have been able to incorporate two passions — design and music — into two small businesses, Lasko Design and JangleBox LLC, that have enjoyed a pretty decent measure of success for decades.
JangleBox is the higher-profile company; we manufacture some of the best boutique guitar pedals in the world, used by acclaimed performers and recording artists as well as inspired amateurs. In 2024 we celebrate our 20th year in business. I’ve met and worked with some incredibly talented musicians, and, as an amateur musician myself (as well as a fan), the experience has been very rewarding. There’s a bit more back story here, if you’re interested.
Lasko Design began more than 35 years ago as an independent graphic design studio in the metro Washington, D.C. area, with clients ranging from businesses and associations to educational institutions. My award-winning portfolio is broad and diverse, reflecting my long experience in the field as well as my passion for great design. I believe that many projects I designed even 25–30 years ago have held up well. In recent years, as the graphic design industry has gone through far-reaching changes, I’ve focused more of my design efforts on promoting JangleBox by designing and writing all the advertising, marketing collateral, product graphics, website, point-of-purchase signage, packaging and exhibits.
Creatively, the two companies are complementary: my work for JangleBox has enhanced and expanded my overall design thinking, as well as given me a better appreciation for real-world creative solutions for my commercial clients.
If you’re reading this, there’s an even chance that you have some interest in considering me for a design project. I appreciate you taking the time to investigate, and hope that I’ve cleared up any questions about what it is that I do.
Of course, if you just want a great guitar pedal, I can handle that for you, too!
